The Influence Institute by Dextego

We are entering an Influence Gap. Information is abundant. Human connection is becoming scarce. The professionals who thrive will be those who bridge it.

The Manifesto

For decades, success was driven by access to information. That era is over.

AI can generate answers, write emails, build presentations, and summarize entire industries in seconds. Knowledge is no longer the differentiator. What you know matters less than how you connect.

As information becomes commoditized, the ability to influence becomes the new scarcity and the new competitive advantage.

These are influence skills. And they can be developed.

But here’s what most people misunderstand: influence has nothing to do with followers.

Influence is what happens in the boardroom when you make your case. In the hallway when you change a colleague’s mind. In the interview when you’re remembered. In the meeting when people actually listen. In the relationship that opens a door you didn’t know existed.

Influence is the ability to create positive change through human connection. It’s the most human skill we have. And it’s precisely the skill that AI cannot replicate.

The Influencers Institute at Dextego exists for one reason: to help the next generation of professionals close the Influence Gap.

Not through tricks. Not through manipulation. Through research, coaching, community, and the disciplined application of what the science of influence actually teaches us.

Because the future won’t belong to the loudest voices. It will belong to those who earn trust and use it to lead.

“The people who will thrive won’t be those who know the most. They’ll be those who can build trust, communicate ideas clearly, navigate difficult conversations, and inspire action.”

-Ioanna Mantzouridou Onasi, Founder & CEO, Dextego

Influence Isn't a New Skill. We've Been Studying It for 2,500 Years.

AI is simply forcing us to reconsider what makes human influence uniquely human.

Ethos

“Why should I trust you?”

Credibility, character, consistency. In an AI world where information is abundant and content is cheap, trust becomes more valuable.

Pathos

“Do you understand me?”

Emotion, empathy, identification. AI can increasingly recognize emotional signals — but recognizing emotion isn’t the same as experiencing human stakes.

Logos

“Does this make sense?”

Reason, evidence, argument. AI is becoming extraordinarily good at Logos — which means influence increasingly depends on Ethos and Pathos.

Aristotle Argued That Virtue Lives Between Extremes. So Does Influence.

Too little presence reads as passive or indifferent. Too much tips into manipulation. Our thesis: influence means changing how someone thinks while respecting their agency. Manipulation means changing their behavior by exploiting what makes them vulnerable.

The Workplace Crisis

Teams are more distributed. Work is increasingly digital. Managers have less time to coach. Employees are overwhelmed by information. Engagement is declining and trust in leadership is under pressure. People are talking more than ever, yet understanding each other less.

Misalignment. Conflict. Burnout. Disengagement.

Most workplace challenges are not knowledge problems. They are influence problems.

The Gen Z Crisis

Gen Z is the most connected generation in history and among the most communication-anxious. Many entered the workforce during remote or hybrid environments. Many learned how to perform before they learned how to connect.

They know how to post. They’re less practiced at persuading, leading without authority, navigating disagreement, giving feedback, or building executive presence.

These are the skills that determine careers.

The Trust Crisis

When AI can produce content, write code, analyze data, and answer questions, human value moves higher up the stack. The premium shifts toward judgment, empathy, trust, adaptability, leadership, and communication.

In other words: the skills that make us uniquely human.

AI may automate information. It cannot automate human trust.

Eight principles that guide everything we do

  1. Influence is a skill, not a personality trait. It can be studied, practiced, and developed by anyone willing to commit to the work.
  2. You don’t need followers to have influence. Real influence happens in conversations, relationships, and rooms, not on feeds.
  3. Trust is the only sustainable form of influence. Manipulation is a short-term tactic. Trust is a long-term asset.
  4. Human connection is the scarcest resource in the AI era. Those who can build it will lead. Those who can’t will be replaced by those who can or by the machines.
  5. Influence begins with understanding, not persuasion. The most effective communicators listen first, and speak in ways others can actually receive.
  6. Difficult conversations are where influence is earned. Anyone can communicate when it’s easy. The professionals who thrive are those who navigate friction with grace.
  7. The science of influence is still being discovered. We’re committed to research-backed methods, not self-help clichés.
  8. Influence, used well, makes the world better. We’re building a community of people who want to lead, connect, and create positive change.

If you want to be heard, trusted, and remembered — this is your community.

Leaders & Managers

You have a title. Now you want the trust, alignment, and followership that makes leadership real. You want to communicate vision, navigate resistance, and build teams that believe in the mission.

Ambitious Professionals

You’re talented. But you’ve noticed that promotions go to people who communicate well, not just those who perform well. You’re ready to develop the influence skills that change that.

Salespeople & Founders

You live or die by your ability to earn trust and move people. You want a scientific, ethical, and deeply practiced approach to persuasion that builds long-term relationships.

Early-Career & Gen Z

You entered a distributed workforce and missed some of the informal mentorship that built professional presence in previous generations. You want to develop the interpersonal skills that accelerate careers.

Coaches & Consultants

Your value is your ability to change how people think and act. You want the tools, frameworks, and community to deepen your practice and sharpen your craft.

Teams & Organizations

You want your entire organization to communicate better, collaborate more effectively, and lead with confidence. The Influencers Institute can partner with you to make that happen.
